Developing Young-Adults' Liberty of Opinion on the Government of a United Europe

Dyalogue is a political, non-partisan association of young European citizens sharing common values.

We strongly believe that the essence of every individual is to create and maintain relationships with other individuals based on a dialogue that respects their differences while overcoming them.

All European societies are based on the public exchange of ideas between free individuals, which requires that each individual is awarded equal and unconditional dignity.

Real freedom exists when every person understands and takes an active part in that exchange. Therefore, people should be provided with adequate linguistic, cultural and educational knowledge.

We believe that this public debate must take place in a structured democratic space. It is the only way to adopt common binding rules, equally applicable to everyone. Democracy is the political system that ensures and preserves the freedom of expression and the right to participate to the administration of society.

A democratic, functional government for Europe implies:
  • that matters of supranational public concern should be discussed at a European level
  • autonomy of the functions of deliberation, administration and regulation of conflicts,
  • transparent and coordinated institutions,
  • All public institutions in Europe should be oriented towards the improvement of the cultural, social and economical conditions of the entire population, and the promotion and protection of democratic ideals.

We believe that an effective participation by all citizens to the public debate can only take place in a context of social justice. Social justice consists in effective access to a high level of healthcare, to quality based education and to fair living conditions for every individual. This can only be achieved through solidarity at all levels.

The enhancement of social justice should be the ultimate scope of the political bodies.

    It encompasses:

  • the peaceful solution of social conflicts,
  • the emancipation of marginalized individuals or groups, and
  • the dynamic adaptation of governmental structures to the challenges arising from social changes.
  • We believe in the capacity of economic actors to freely develop and maintain a web of beneficial relationships as long as they contribute to both economic growth and to social welfare.

Therefore, in their economic policy making, public institutions should primarily aim at the creation and maintenance of a general set of rules designed to promote free, open and fair competition.

However, their ultimate, scope should be that economic actors become truly corporate and socially responsible community members. A highly productive economy should be knowledge based. Therefore the educational system should provide the appropriate set of skills, necessary to the formation.
